Container Handling Accumulation System

HAN-TEK successfully completed a large system for Delphi's new molding facility. The system was designed to accommodate accumulation between molding and shipping. Empty containers are stacked on an "Empty Container" System, and then automatically destacked for acceptance onto an AGV. Stacking the containers allowed Delphi to double or quadruple their storage capabilities because product could be stacked along the conveyor, and then automatically destacked without operator intervention.

The full container system automatically delivered product to operators for palletizing or storage in racks. The system is capable of queuing hundreds of totes and automatically delivering them to one of 20 different locations. Some locations were two-tiered with the system automatically delivering product to each of the tiers.

This system was provided complete with GE controls, operator touch screens, maintenance interface panels, and an interface to Delphi's main production software.

Benefits associated with the system include:

  • Reduced labor costs
  • Increased productivity
  • Minimized storage requirements
  • Greater inventory control
